
Speaker, House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has said through “Nigeria-China people-to-people exchanges, we have seen an influx of Chinese companies, humanitarian organisations and tourists in Nigeria.”
The development, he said, had provided opportunities to understudy Chinese expertise, acquire new skills and enhance transportation infrastructure.
He explained that through the initiative, China had invested in the construction of roads and railways, providing Nigeria with better connectivity in and out to facilitate movement of goods, services and people for improved trade and economic integration.
Represented by lawmaker Ibrahim Haruna, Abbas stated this during the ongoing two-day third Belt and Road China-Nigeria Economic and Trade Exhibition, organised by the China Chamber of Commerce in Nigeria, yesterday, in Abuja.
He recalled that the initiative, launched in 2013, aims to connect Asia with Europe, Africa and beyond through a series of infrastructural projects such as roads, railways, ports and energy facilities.
Speaking further, he stated that “the collaboration between our two nations has led to significant advancements in the energy sector.
Delivering his address, representative of Chairman of China General Chamber of Commerce in Nigeria, Liu Jiang, said both nations value the ties to take them to the next positive level.
