Ibloov moves to reduce high depression, anxiety rates among Nigerians

In an era where anxiety and depression are swiftly sweeping across all age brackets, classes and gender, Ibloov is running with the vision to change the narrative by taking people to their happiest places.

According to a study by Theresa Gaffney on STAT, the rate of depression and anxiety climbed globally by more than 25 per cent in 2020. Yet, the subject of anxiety and depression is scarcely voiced.

During an interview with Dr. ThankGod Ocheho, a psychologist, he stated that depression could be diagnosed when an individual is consistently down for a minimum of two weeks.

He further explained that in the same way negative events can impact a mind negatively, positive events can also impact the mind by sending positive emotions.

“This is why Ibloov is set to create more memorable and striking moments for people.

“The goal is not only targeted at those battling anxiety and depression but to take everyone to their best place where they can enjoy life to the optimum.”

In line with this mission, Ibloov recently organised an inspiring mental awareness and fitness event in Lagos State recently. The event aimed to raise awareness about mental health issues while promoting physical well being, bringing communities together for a positive and healthy experience.

According to Ocheho, there is a need for people to identify their happy place as a way to handle the challenges of life when they arise because they will arise.

“Expressive therapy like music, painting, sports, tourism, etc, aids in situations when talking alone fails,” he added. Research, he said, has shown that social events can reduce depression rate by 20 per cent.

“Armed with this information, Ibloov is building a social platform to cater for all your social events while collaborating with travel and tour agencies, event organisers, sports enthusiasts, music platforms, artistes, among others.

“The mission is to help you explore, discover, create and connect to memories that will outlive you.

“It is time people quit seeing depression and anxiety as a religious crisis instead of a public health challenge.

“Ibloov recognises your uniqueness and wants to take you to your distinct definition of a happy place through social events. Remember, humans thrive in social connections,” Ochendo said.
