Gov. Yusuf hails Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar’s appointment as President SCSN

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has congratulated Sheikh Dr Bashir Aliyu Umar, on his recent appointment as President of the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria (SCSN).

In a statement issued by the Governor’s office, Dr Bashir’s appointment was described as a well-merited recognition of his exceptional scholarship, unwavering leadership, and steadfast dedication to the ideals of Shari’ah and social justice.

The Governor praised the distinguished Islamic scholar for his significant contributions to the advancement of Islamic thought and finance both in Nigeria and internationally.

Bashir, who holds a PhD in Hadith and Islamic Studies from the Islamic University of Madinah, has served on numerous prominent platforms, including the Shari’ah Advisory Committee of Stanbic IBTC Bank and the Council of Experts on Islamic Banking of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

“The unanimous confirmation of Dr Bashir Aliyu Umar as President of the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria is a clear testament to the deep respect and confidence the Ummah places in his ability to lead with wisdom and vision,” Yusuf stated.

He offered prayers for Almighty Allah (SWT) to grant the new SCSN President continued wisdom, strength, and success in his responsibilities, while assuring him of the steadfast support and goodwill of the government and people of Kano State.

Yusuf also urged the Muslim Ummah across Nigeria to rally behind the new leadership of the Council in its mission to uphold justice, unity, and Islamic values across the nation.
