Katsina State Government said it will disburse N2billion to victims affected by flood in some parts of the state.

The governor Dikko Radda made this known on Tuesday evening during the launch of the second phase for the distribution of 3,850 bags of 25kg of rice to vulnerable groups.

The rice was donated to the state by the Bank of Industries (BOI) with the first phase of distribution held three days ago where over 2,000 bags of rice were distributed to the needy.

Radda said the ₦2 billion fund is earmarked to assist flood victims in rebuilding their homes and businesses that were destroyed by the recent flooding.

While commending BOI for the bags of rice donation, the governor said the bank had previously donated food items for the needy, even as he called on affluent citizens to emulate such a gesture.

Radda, however, appealed to the beneficiaries to utilize the rice for its intended purpose and refrain from selling the donated items.

The rice distribution, overseen by the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), targets internally displaced persons, women, and individuals with special needs across the 34 council areas of the state.

SEMA Executive Secretary, Hajia Binta Dangani, said beneficiaries were carefully selected to ensure the aid reaches those most in need.
