Police arrest man for burning estranged wife’s house in Edo
The Edo State Police Command has confirmed that its operatives arrested Osaro Ahuwa for allegedly burning down the house of his estranged wife.
The police spokesman in Edo, CSP Moses Joel Yamu, stated on Thursday that officers arrested Ahuwa following a distress call from one Osariten Terecy.
“At about 1:30 am on New Year’s Day, Osariten Terecy reported to the command that her sister, Uyi Tina, was asleep in her residence at Asemota Street, Idunowinna Quarters, Benin City, when the estranged husband went to her house with a keg of fuel and set the building ablaze,” the statement read.
According to Yamu, the woman escaped with burns while the house was completely burned, along with all the items inside, including a sum of money worth £4,000 and a Lexus RX 330 vehicle.
“The estranged husband, along with one other accomplice, has been arrested and is currently in custody. Investigation is ongoing,” Yamu added.
