Sallah: Kaduna police urge peaceful celebrations, warn against violence

Kaduna Police Command has warned citizens in the State to celebrate Sallah responsibly and peacefully, while urging them to eschew violence.

The Police Command, in a statement by the Spokesman, DSP Mansir Hassan, on Wednesday, felicitates with Muslims and other citizens on the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir (Sallah) festivities, pointing out that in the spirit of the season, the Command is calling on all citizens to celebrate responsibly and peacefully.

Hassan said: “The Command has put in place robust security measures across the state to ensure a hitch-free celebration, and urges members of the public to cooperate with security personnel in the discharge of their duties and also warns against violence during the festivities.”

According to him, the Commissioner of Police, CP RABIU MUHAMMAD, appeals to religious, community, and youth leaders to continue to promote peace, tolerance, and mutual respect during and after the Sallah festivities.

“Special appeal is also extended to our Fulani brothers and sisters, especially the youth engaging in traditional Sharo (flogging contest), to conduct their celebrations in an orderly and peaceful manner,” he added.

“While the Command recognizes and respects cultural expressions, it must be emphasized that all such activities must be carried out in a safe and non-violent environment. Any act capable of breaching public peace or causing harm will not be condoned.

“Citizens are advised to be vigilant and report any suspicious movement or persons to the nearest police station or through the following emergency contacts: 07039675856, 08075391105.”
