The Secretary of the Zamfara State Local Government Services Commission, Barrister Shafi’u Bukhari, has commended the state government for its continuous support and commitment to strengthening good governance and accountability at the grassroots level across the state’s 14 local government areas.
The secretary of the commission, who spoke through the Director of Administrations of the Local Government Services Commission, Alhaji Mukhtar Sani, made the recommendation during the presentation of the certificate of attendance held at the multipurpose hall of the Commission in Gusau, the State Capital.
He further stated that the state government’s vision for an efficient, transparent, and service-driven local government system really continued to inspire positive reforms.
Shafi’u further stated that the success of the program relies largely on cooperation and a willingness to learn and improve, and is confident that the lessons learned here will translate into better performance and accountability in their respective local governments.
He also noted that the workshop aims to share best practices, discuss challenges, and develop innovative solutions that will empower leaders with integrity, uphold governance standards, and exercise sound financial control.
He urged the participants to use the knowledge acquired during these three days to guide us in promoting effective leadership, prudent financial management, and good governance in the fourteen local Government systems.
Shafi’u commended the Executive Chairman of Local Government Service Commission, Alhaji Aminu Aliyu Mafara for exemplary leadership and dedication to capacity development, guidance and encouragement.
He said these have been instrumental to the success of the programme, adding that he thanked the resource persons and facilitators, whose wealth of knowledge and engaging presentations have greatly enriched the understanding of leadership, governance, and financial control in local administration.
In other news, the Zamfara State chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has expressed deep appreciation to the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, for receiving the NAWOJ National Chairperson, Comrade Aisha Ibrahim K Bura, and her team on a courtesy visit at his office in Gusau.
In a statement signed by the State Chairperson, Jamila Musa Kanoma, the association commended the Governor’s commitment to women empowerment and his pledge to host the 19 Northern States NAWOJ Conference on the Empowering Role of Women in Peacebuilding.
NAWOJ also commended the First Lady of Zamfara State, Hajiya Hurriya Dauda Lawal, for her active participation and inspiring presence at the opening ceremony of a three-day training workshop on Gender Equity and Safety/ Gender-Sensitive Reporting for Women Journalists in the state.
The association further appreciated the Hon. Commissioner for Information and Culture, Hon. Mahmud Muhammad Abdullahi, for his tireless efforts and support towards the success of the training.
According to NAWOJ, the collective support of the governor, First Lady, and the commissioner reflects the administration’s strong commitment to empowering women and strengthening their role in peacebuilding, good governance, and responsible journalism.
NAWOJ Zamfara State Chapter reaffirmed its readiness to partner with the State Government in promoting gender inclusion, professional development, and sustainable peace across Zamfara and beyond.
