Babangida Isah emerges NYCN president

Comrade Babangida Onimisi Isah has emerged as the new President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) following a keenly contested election held under the supervision of the National Transition Committee (NTC).

The election, which drew wide commendation for its transparency and credibility, saw Isah, from Kogi State, secure 243 votes out of 497 accredited delegates. His closest rival, Comrade Ahmad Abubakar from Kebbi State, polled 228 votes, while 26 votes were declared invalid.

The NYCN serves as the umbrella body for youth organisations in Nigeria, providing a platform for young people to engage in leadership, national development, and policy advocacy.

In his acceptance speech, Isah thanked delegates for their confidence in his leadership and pledged to prioritize youth empowerment, inclusivity, education, and civic engagement.

He also promised to promote transparency and accountability in the council’s operations, stressing his commitment to uniting Nigerian youth toward achieving sustainable national progress.
