Northern group hails Tinubu over tax reform bill
The Coalition of Northern Democratic Forum (CND) has commended President Bola Tinubu for his swift response to concerns raised by stakeholders regarding the proposed Tax Reform Bills.
It applauded Tinubu for directing the Ministry of Justice to work closely with the National Assembly to address all genuine concerns raised by Nigerians before the bills could be passed.
CND Coordinator, Hon. Auwal Ibrahim Sansani, on Friday, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the President for amending the controversial clauses in the tax reform bills.
Also, the Nigerian Governors’ Forum on Thursday has agreed to the bills with exceptions on the Value Added Tax (VAT) sharing formula, while suggesting its modalities.
According to the coalition, the proposed amendments wouldl address the concerns of various interest groups, ensuring that the Tax Reform Bills promote economic growth, social justice, and sustainable development.
“The President’s decision to amend the tax reform bills is a clear demonstration of his commitment to the welfare of Nigerians. We commend his leadership style, which prioritizes the needs and concerns of the people,” Sansani said.
The coalition also commended Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State for his efforts in facilitating a resolution to the controversy surrounding the Tax Reform Bills.
It lauded the prominent Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi for his support for Tinubu’s tax reform bills, describing it as a step towards improving Nigeria’s economic landscape.
“The tax reform bills are a necessary step towards improving Nigeria’s economy. We must support the President’s efforts to create a more favorable business environment and promote economic growth,” he said.
