Odesola condemns bloodshed, says Nigeria belongs to everyone
The Assistant General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) on Administration and Personnel, Pastor Johnson Odesola, has urged the Federal Government to create an enabling environment for an average Nigerian to live in any part of the country without molestation or intimidation.
He also called for religious tolerance that would abhor violence and killing of human beings in the cause of any disagreement.
Odesola, who is also the Continental Overseer, RCCG Continent Three, gave the charge in Lagos, yesterday, during a peaceful protest on the heel of the Christian Association of Nigeria’s (CAN) instruction to churches that peaceful demonstration should be carried out within the confine of churches to register disapproval of killings in the country and particularly Christians in the event of provocation.
He said: “This peaceful protest is actually very necessary because Nigeria is a secular country and not a country with just one religion, which calls for tolerance and protection of every citizen on the part of the government.
“We must be friends, whether Christians, Muslims or people from any other religion, with one another and more importantly as citizens in a secular country. It is high time we realise that Nigeria is for everyone and not for certain set of people.
“If people from the North can come down to the South and build mosques and houses without being molested, it should not be an abomination for people in the South to go to the North and replicate the same and enjoy peaceful settlement.”
