Over 230 students fail to register despite admission into FGC, Maiduguri, says principal

Principal of Federal Government College (FGC), Maiduguri, Malam Umar Habeeb, has said that 235 students are not registered despite their admission into the college for the 2023/2024 academic session.

According to him, 240 students were admitted into the institution, but only five collected their admission letters to register so far. Habeeb, who raised the alarm in Maiduguri, Borno State, during a ceremony to mark FGC’s 50th anniversary for the Unity school alumni, said the inability of the 235 students to register with their admission letters was due to economic hardship.

He, therefore, called on state government and well-to-do in the society to urgently intervene and help 89 indigents that had secured admissions on merit but could not afford to pay their school fees get admitted.

Meanwhile, the National President of Federal Government College Maiduguri Old Students Association (FEGOCOMOSA), Suleiman Mohammed Dikwa, appealed to the alumni to sponsor some of the indigent students that gained admission but couldn’t register. He said that they decided to celebrate the golden jubilee in the state to tell the world that peace has returned to Maiduguri.
