Rivers State’s newly deployed Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Bala Mustapha, conducted an on-the-spot assessment tour of local government secretariats on Wednesday, September 9, 2024.

This is in a bid to reassure citizens of their safety, as the CP embarked on a confidence-building patrol across several local government secretariats in Rivers State.

This follows Monday’s violence and arson attacks on several LGA councils. The tour, according to the CP, aimed to reassure citizens and address concerns after the recent violence.

CP Mustapha stated, “We’re on the spot assessment of the situation on the ground, taking actions, and have set up a high-powered investigation team.”

The team, led by the Deputy Commissioner, State CID, and assisted by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, State CID, comprises seasoned police officers who will investigate the case thoroughly.

The commissioner stressed his commitment to peace, urging collaboration to maintain law and order. “I’m preaching the gospel of peace to everybody. I’m a peacemaker, an ambassador of peace. My message to everybody is let’s collaborate to maintain law and order.”

He also reassured that the state is not volatile, with relative peace prevailing, and pledged to continue ensuring public safety.

The local government secretariats the CP visited are: Port Harcourt, Obio/Akpor, Emohua, Ikwerre, and Eleme councils.

CP Mustapha was accompanied by members of his management team, senior officers, and other officials during the patrol.
