National Orientation Agency (NOA) has announced a two-week sensitisation programme aimed at raising awareness about key government policies, national values, security, disaster preparedness, and national identity.
The agency’s Director-General, Lanre Issa-Onilu, who disclosed this during a media briefing in Dopemu, Lagos, explained that the initiative was designed to educate Nigerians about harmful practices and misinformation that threaten the country’s unity and progress.
Issa-Onilu, who was represented by the Deputy Director of Environment, Climate, and Energies, Segun Alao, highlighted that the sensitisation programme would be rolled out across the 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and all 774 local government councils, aiming to create a nationwide awareness campaign that fosters civic engagement and a sense of national responsibility. He said: “We will bring accurate, accessible information on key government initiatives to the doorsteps of every Nigerian.”
From the student loan scheme to infrastructure, social investments, and job creation, we are committed to ensuring that no one is left behind.
“The programme will also address the growing flood risks, with NiMet projections indicating that 27 states are highly susceptible to flooding. The agency is mobilising communities to act swiftly and prepare for the potential disaster.
“Further, the sensitisation will focus on security issues, engaging communities through dialogues, media outreach, and grassroots initiatives to encourage vigilance, timely reporting, and build stronger relationships between citizens and security agencies.”
