North West govs off to AfDB for regional development talks

Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State and other North West governors have embarked on a visit to Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, to engage with the management of African Development Bank (AfDB) in discussions on substantial investments in agriculture and power sectors for the region’s development.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Special Assistant on New Media to Jigawa Governor, Garba Al-Hadejawy.

According to the statement, the initiative, which was spearheaded by the North West Governors’ Forum (NWGF), was to leverage the competitive advantages of the region.

The Guardian gathered that discussions will centre on bolstering food security, job creation and improving state revenue through targeted investments in key sectors.

The statement added that the collaborative effort underscores the commitment of the North West governors to sustainable growth and harnessing the region’s potential for the greater benefit of its residents.

As the leaders converge on Abidjan, the anticipation is high for fruitful deliberations that will pave the way for a more prosperous and resilient North West region.
