NIGERIA-VOTEThe Kaduna State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Monday said it had arrested a man with a locally made pistol during a stop-and- search operation in Kaduna.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Commandant, Ibrahim Ningi, and made availble to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna.

Ningi said the suspect was arrested at about 10.30 a.m. at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium during  a rountine operation by the personel.

“On interrogation, the suspect  identified himself  as Jonathan Bello, 29, and  confessed that he bought the weapon in his village, Maraban Babo, Kagarko Local Government Area, with five ammumition but had exhausted the ammunition ,” he said.

He said that the suspect would be arraigned in court as soon as investigation was concluded.

The Commandant called on the public to be vigilant and report suspected criminals in their midst to relevant security agencies.

He said the corps would adopt new measures to track down criminals in the state and solicited for the support of the people.
