NSCDC seeks Imo’s help against pipeline vandalism, others

WORRIED at the rate of pipeline vandalisation, adulteration of petroleum products, robbery and other forms of criminal acts in the state, the Imo State Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Pedro Ideba, has appealed to the state for financial and other logistics supports to enable it tackle.

Speaking at the weekend during a courtesy visit to the Secretary to the State Government, Jude Ejiogu, in Owerri, Ideba said the NSCDC was facing challenges and needed urgent assistance.

According to him, the agency will work with other states to make Imo crime-free, especially in matters concerning pipeline vandalisation, adulteration of petroleum products and robbery, among others.

Responding, Ejiogu said the state was willing to partner the NSCDC in crime fighting has begun demolishing shanties and illegal structures, and cleaning up the cities to restore its lost glory as the cleanest state in Nigeria.

This goal, he said, is to ensure clean and healthy atmosphere and attract local and foreign investors to boost industrialisation and employment. He promised, on behalf of the state government, to assist the agency in its duties.
