The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved 10 new programmes for the Kwara State University (KWASU) to run from the 2024/2025 academic session.

The new approvals have increased the number of undergraduate courses in the school to 80. A statement by the institution’s Acting Director of Relations, Dr Saeedat Aliyu, said the approval was contained in a letter signed by NUC’s Acting Director of Academic Planning, AbubakarGirei, on behalf of the Acting Executive Secretary, and addressed to the Vice Chancellor, Prof Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh.

“The Commission said the approval followed the results of assessments from the resource verification visit carried out by panels of experts to the proposed academic programmes,” Aliyu said.

The letter dated December 10, 2024 noted that the programmes were to be in full-time mode, while the university was urged to provide adequate human and material resources for the development and growth of the approved courses.

Reacting, the vice chancellor described the development as timely and a reflection of the higher institution’s readiness to train quality human resources that would impact society.
