Hundreds of sympathizers on Thursday gathered at the Yar’Adua family house in the Katsina State capital, for the Fiddau prayers for the late Hajiya Dada.
Dada, mother to late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, and current Senator, Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, died on Monday evening aged 102.
She was buried at the Danmarna graveyard on Tuesday afternoon, with several dignitaries from within and outside the state in attendance.
During the Fiddau prayers, religious leaders who led the session prayed for the repose of her soul, and the family members, the fortitude to bear the great loss.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo was amongst early visitors to the Yar’Adua family house on Thursday, even as he expressed sympathy over Dada’s demise.
Obasanjo’s Chief of Staff when he was Military Head of State, Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, was a son of the deceased.
Three other prominent persons, former vice presidents Yemi Osinbanjo, and Namadi Sambo, as well as Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, were in the state to commiserate with the Yar’Adua family over the matriarch’s death.
Speaking, Osinbanjo described the late Dada as “a woman who embodied the spirit of service, dignity, and grace”.
“We are saddened by her passing, but we are happy with the life of service she lived,” he added.
