The wife of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Mrs. Bola Obasanjo, has urged federal and state governments to support diabetic patients to cut down the cost of managing the disease.
Obasanjo’s wife, who made the appeal, yesterday, during a two-day Ogun youth diabetes camp organised by Talabi Diabetes Centre in the state and attended by 29 participants across six states, regretted that the expenses incurred to treat diabetes is huge.
She noted that the patients need help from governments and philanthropists.
Mrs. Obasanjo advised the participants to follow skills given to them to maintain and survive the disease like her husband, saying: “There is no disease that is not deadly but at the same time, if you manage it very well, you will live your life fully. And nobody will know that you have an illness as long as you maintain and do the right thing at the right time.”
