Oborevweri to rehabilitate vandalised NYSC camp in Delta

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring and upgrading the recently vandalised National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp in Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking on Tuesday at the official closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch B Stream 1 Orientation Course, Governor Oborevwori emphasised that the state government is already investing in the camp’s ongoing development.

“We are investing in the ongoing development of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Issele-Uku to ensure it remains a model facility nationally,” the governor said.

He assured corps members that infrastructure upgrades would continue to be prioritised to create an enabling environment for their service year.

“As a government, we remain firmly committed to your welfare, safety, and success,” Oborevwori declared. He also called on local council chairmen, traditional rulers, community leaders, and stakeholders to support corps members and ensure a safe, welcoming, and conducive environment for them to thrive.

The governor urged the newly inducted corps members to maximise the opportunities available at the camp to develop their talents and unlock their potential.

“You must carry out your assignments with dedication, excellence, and integrity,” he told them.
In his address, Delta State NYSC Coordinator Mr. John Kwaghe commended the corps members for their resilience throughout the 21-day orientation programme.

“These three weeks have been a period of learning, discipline, and self-discovery — not only for our camp officials but especially for our corps members. What could have been challenges became opportunities for growth, discipline, and preparation for the service year ahead and for life beyond the scheme,” Kwaghe said.

He noted that despite the challenges of adapting to a regimented lifestyle, corps members embraced the experience with courage and enthusiasm.

Kwaghe also highlighted the successful execution of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme during the course, which remains a cornerstone of the NYSC’s mission to promote youth empowerment and self-reliance.

“All scheduled activities were carried out with commendable discipline and zeal,” he added.
