The Omuikume Omagwa community in Rivers State has witnessed the commissioning of a new ultra-modern town hall, hailing the structure as a transformative project for the community.
The community members revealed that the hall, which was built and donated by Jackson Bekwele Offor, reflects his dedication to uplifting his roots and investing in the community’s future.
At the commissioning ceremony, Offor noted that the town hall, with a seating capacity of over 1,000, built within four months, offers a venue for traditional rites, recreational activities, and civic engagements.
He said: “This hall was designed to meet the community’s need for a centralised space for events and engagements. From traditional rites and recreational activities to civic meetings, the facility promises to serve as a hub for social and cultural gatherings.”
He also emphasised that the hall would remain non-commercialised, ensuring it is accessible to all.
“This hall is my contribution to our community, a space where unity thrives, and traditions are preserved. I hope that it inspires others to give back in meaningful ways,” he said.
The community leader, His Royal Highness, Eze Achineke Amadi, commended Offor’s generosity and vision, stating: “This hall is more than a building; it is a declaration of love for one’s community.”
The ruler of Omuwenike Community and father of the donor, Boniface IbenemeOffor, expressed pride in his son’s contribution, adding that the hall will be a cornerstone for the growth of the community.
