Ogun unveils electric bike initiative with battery swap stations in Abeokuta
The Ogun State Government yesterday launched its Electric Bike Initiative, featuring three battery swap stations in Abeokuta. This project is part of the state’s efforts to provide eco-friendly alternatives to traditional vehicles.
In a tweet yesterday on the official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Governor Dapo Abiodun, said as a responsible government, “we aim to mitigate the impact of subsidy removal and high diesel costs, having already led the country in the energy transition by launching CNG-fueled buses. Now, we are proud to introduce electric bikes, tricycles, and CNG tricycles, which will significantly reduce transport costs and promote a cleaner environment.”
According to the governor, the state government is also breaking ground on a new assembly facility in Iperu Remo, set to create thousands of jobs and support our youth with technical training programs. This initiative, along with the Ogun Youth Empowerment Scheme (OGYES), underscores our commitment to creating a secure and friendly business environment.
“We encourage investors to explore opportunities in Ogun, especially in power, telecommunications, and industrial sectors. Our gratitude goes to all partners who have made this programme possible. Together, we are not just part of the future—we are actively shaping it,” he said.
