DELTA State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has charged governing councils of state-owned tertiary institutions to judiciously use their internally generated revenue (IGR) for infrastructural development.

The governor, who made the appeal at the weekend in Ozoro while commissioning various projects at the state’s polytechnic in the town, commended the rector and management of the institution for being proactive, transparent and accountable in the use of IGR for the development of the school.

“I encourage this great feat. The projects on ground in this school show that you and your management are working and that you are focused,” he said.

Okowa noted that he was overwhelmed with the work the school management had done without government financial support, saying: “ The rector made me to understand that the stadium still under construction would be completed with about N400 million. This man needs to be encouraged. The state government will support you with the sum of N100 million grant to complete the project,” he promised.
