Okumagba hails Oskar Ibru’s role in sustaining family business legacy

Former Delta State Commissioner of Finance, Olorogun Bernard Okumagba, has paid tribute to Olorogun Oskar Ibru, describing him as a pillar of the Ibru Organisation and a man whose life combined business acumen with philanthropy.

In a condolence message issued on Thursday, Okumagba commiserated with the Ibru family and the people of Agbarha-Otor Kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State over Ibru’s death.

“Olorogun Oskar Ibru was a major pillar of the renowned Ibru Organisation, founded by his father, Olorogun Michael Ibru, and which is one of Nigeria’s most prominent indigenous conglomerates,” Okumagba said. “He was the Chairman of the Ibru Organisation, where he played a key leadership role as a visionary entrepreneur, succeeding his father in leading the group.”

Okumagba recalled his personal interactions with the late businessman, noting that his leadership extended beyond boardrooms. “I recall my several interactions with the late Oskar Ibru in business and as a friend and brother, and I valued his counsel and company greatly,” he stated.

He also highlighted Ibru’s philanthropic legacy, saying his commitment to community development left a lasting mark. “His great and remarkable philanthropy sealed his legacy as a man with a heart of human kindness, who will be sorely missed,” he said.

According to Okumagba, Ibru’s contributions ensured that the family conglomerate continued to thrive after the passing of its founder. “Oskar took over the reins of the Ibru Organisation from his father and sustained the legacy of the business and the family’s proud name till his passing,” he said.

He further noted that Ibru related warmly with people across ethnic and national lines, a trait which endeared him to many beyond the Urhobo nation. “He will be greatly missed by one and all,” Okumagba added.

Praying for the repose of his soul, Okumagba asked God to grant comfort to Ibru’s family, associates, and the wider Urhobo community.
