In line with the directive and vision of Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s administration, the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) has announced that it would no longer award contracts for the construction of wooden structures in its mandate areas.

Established in 2000 to accelerate the development of oil-producing communities in the state, OSOPADEC is statutorily required to receive and manage 40 per cent of the 13 per cent oil derivation fund allocated to Ondo State.

The Commission’s Secretary, Princess Abike Bayo-Ilawole, disclosed this during progress assessment of the ongoing construction of a 1,000-metre concrete walkway with a jetty at Obe-Nla in Ilaje Local Council.

The concrete walkway is an initiative by the Aiyedatiwa’s administration aimed at improving the quality of life for residents, enhancing connectivity between communities, and stimulating economic activities within the region.

Since assuming office in December last year, Aiyedatiwa has revitalised the commission to fulfill its critical role in developing the oil-producing areas.

Under the leadership of Princess Abike Bayo-Ilawole as Secretary, OSOPADEC has implemented various impactful projects. These include awarding scholarships to students in tertiary institutions across Nigeria, completing the Alape Road, supplying chairs, desks, textbooks, and other instructional materials to schools, among other noteworthy achievements.
