Osun State Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi, has denied reports that it was his thugs that attacked student leaders of the National Association of Nigerian Students in Osun.

Recall that students of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, last week, took to the streets in protest against hike in tuition.

But in a statement, the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Goke Awoyemi, said it is not in the character of the deputy governor to attack political opponents, not to talk of innocent students exercising their fundamental human rights as enshrined in the Constitution.

He said:  “I wish to state unequivocally that thuggery and hooliganism have never been associated with Adewusi before, during and after his rise to political stardom. He did not use such means against his political opponents, not to talk of innocent students who were exercising their fundamental human rights as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“The story was a carefully prepared diet of fiction, put together by fifth columnists to cause unrest in Osun State, propagated by those who are envious of the cordial relationship existing between Adewusi and his principal, Governor Ademola Adeleke.”

Awoyemi, therefore, advised the general public to discountenance the report, describing it as false.
