Osun to begin Hajj 2025 airlift for 1,221 pilgrims May 9

The Osun State Muslims Pilgrim Welfare Board has finalised arrangements to commence the airlift of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage on Friday, May 9, 2024 the Board’s Executive Secretary, Mr. Muritala Fakunle, announced on Wednesday.

In a statement issued by the Board’s Executive Secretary Fakunle, who confirmed that all logistical and operational plans are in place to ensure a seamless pilgrimage for registered participants.

“We have secured comfortable accommodations for our pilgrims in Makkah and the Board is fully prepared to deliver excellent services throughout this spiritual journey,” he said.

The release follows an intensified coordination between the Board airline operators, Saudi authorities and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). Fakunle emphasised that the May 9 airlift date aligns with the approved schedule by Saudi officials.

Fakunle pointed out that over 1,221 pilgrims from Osun State are expected to participate in the 2025 Hajj, with the inaugural flight set to depart from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. Subsequent batches will be airlifted daily until all registered pilgrims are transported.
