The Oyo State Government has called on residents of Oke-Ogun to make meaningful contributions to the proposed 2026 budget, assuring them of the administration’s commitment to security and inclusive development.
The Deputy Governor, Adebayo Lawal, made the call on Tuesday during the 2026 Stakeholders’ Consultative Meeting held at the Saki Township Hall.
Lawal said the exercise was aimed at giving citizens a voice in the budget preparation process while also providing updates on the performance of the 2025 budget.
He noted that inputs from previous consultations had been incorporated into past budgets and that all ongoing projects initiated after the 2025 consultations would be completed before the end of the current administration’s second term.
He also reassured residents of Oke-Ogun of the government’s determination to strengthen security in the region, pledging that measures were being taken to secure major roads, entry and exit points, and other strategic areas.
“All hands are on deck to identify and deal with criminal elements using the instrumentality of the law,” he said.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Prof. Musibau Babatunde, urged residents to continue fulfilling their civic responsibilities, including paying taxes, to enable the government to deliver on its developmental goals.
He noted that the consultative meeting was part of a statewide series designed to ensure that citizens’ needs and priorities shape the 2026 budget.
“Let me assure you that Governor Seyi Makinde has your interest at heart. What we are doing here is a foundational part of the 2026 budget presentation, and it will ensure residents’ needs guide the government’s planning,” Babatunde said.
