Passport services have resumed at all three Nigerian missions in the United States following the resolution of an internet outage that disrupted operations last week.
The crisis reportedly began last week when an internet outage at the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, D.C., disrupted the passport production process.
The outage affected all three missions in the United States – the Embassy in Washington, D.C., and the Consulates-General in New York and Atlanta.
The Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, DC, in a public notice posted on its site, said all passport applicants scheduled earlier for biometrics last week are expected to visit the mission between Monday and Wednesday.
“This is to inform all passport applicants scheduled for biometric capture from Monday 13th November 2023 to Thursday 16th November 2023, that the appointment has been rescheduled to hold from Monday 20th November to Wednesday 22nd November 2023,” the notice read.
The embassy also stated that the affected applicants can come to the embassy on any of the aforementioned days and noted that the change of schedule is due to the internet outage being experienced at the embassy.
“While appreciating your patience, please be assured that the service provider is resolving the issue.” it added.
