PDP urges AbdulRazaq to take action on insecurity in Kwara

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has condemned the relocation of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp from Yikpata in Edu Local Government to Ilorin, citing escalating insecurity in the state.

In a statement issued on Friday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Adewara, PDP described the move as “unfortunate and embarrassing” for the state’s image. The party said the development underscores the urgent need for leadership that is present, responsive, and accountable.
PDP criticized Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for reportedly being absent while critical security issues affect residents.

“Kwara people deserve a leader who is on the ground, directly engaging with citizens,” the statement said, adding that the governor has left people to learn of the relocation through social media rather than official communication.

The party contrasted AbdulRazaq’s absence with governors in states like Borno, Yobe, Niger, and Kaduna, who are actively addressing security challenges. PDP further accused the governor of prioritizing personal comfort and leisure overseas over public safety.

Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi also faced criticism for his silence, particularly as a native of one of the most affected areas. The party described his role as largely ceremonial, offering no tangible leadership amid ongoing attacks.

PDP called the executive’s absence a dereliction of duty and urged the governor to return immediately to address the state’s security challenges.
The party also demanded that the Kwara State House of Assembly and relevant security agencies hold the executive accountable for protecting lives and property.

The PDP urged citizens to actively hold the government accountable for security failures, wasteful spending, and poor leadership, warning that the state’s future cannot be sacrificed for political convenience.
