‘Peter Obi is humble,’ says Seyi Law as video of him serving food trends

Popular comedian Oluwaseyitan Aletile, better known as Seyi Law, has reacted to a viral video showing former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi serving food at an event in Imo State.

The video, which began trending on social media earlier this week, captured Obi carrying trays, sharing plates of food and engaging warmly with guests at the gathering.

In a post shared on his verified X page on Thursday, Seyi Law wrote, “This is the height of humility. Na today I confirm sey Peter Obi really humble.”

The post generated mixed reactions online, with many social media users interpreting the comment as sarcasm.
Supporters of Obi quickly took to the comedian’s page to express displeasure, insisting the gesture was consistent with Obi’s long-standing humility.

A user, @Jossynario, wrote, “This is in a region where he got over 95 per cent votes. He doesn’t need to work hard to impress anyone here.”

Another, @Nellycentz, added, “Imagine what this idiot will say when Jesus was washing the feet of his disciples then…”

Also weighing in, @Agu-iyi said, “I remember when Sanwo-Olu went to the church to greet and engage people when he was seeking re-election. You all lost your voices… See the pictures of UK prime ministers and US presidents serving food. Why is that not an issue, but you are losing sleep over Peter Obi serving?”

@Ai_Abaelu also shared, “PO as a serving governor invited the leaders of the students’ union—two persons from each town. After a project tour across the state, he hosted the students and served food himself in the lodge. A governor served students food then. This is not the first or the second time.”

As of the time of filing this report, Obi has not responded to the reactions trailing the video.
