The National Agency for Foods and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered more counterfeit drugs, vaccines and unregistered narcotics at the Idumota Market.
As part of its ongoing efforts targeted at eliminating counterfeit drugs, NAFDAC commenced an enforcement operation in the Idumota Market.
Numerous fake drugs and expired medicines were uncovered during this operation.
It has been over a week since then, and the agency has uncovered yet another batch of counterfeit drugs and vaccines, as well as unregistered narcotics at the market.

NAFDAC revealed this via a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday night.
It wrote, “In the ongoing enforcement operation at the Idumota open drug market, NAFDAC has uncovered more alarming products, including unregistered narcotics, counterfeit GSK medicines, and vaccines stored in toilets.”
Three days earlier, the agency announced that it seized banned drugs such as Analgin, vaccines meant for cold chain storage, Oxytocin for maternal health improperly stored outside the cold chain, and donated medical products.
