Plot to replace Jarrett Tenebe as the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State is gathering momentum, going by a series of social media posts shared by Tenebe.
This was as Lumen Christi International High School Old Students Association (LUCOSA) congratulated its Emeritus President, Paul Usenbo, on his appointment as the Commissioner for Power by Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo.
The Guardian gathered that Senator Adams Oshiomhole (APC, Edo North) and Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh, are not keen on supporting Tenebe’s re-election as Edo APC chairman.
Tenebe’s absence at last week’s empowerment programme, organised by Oshiomhole, gave credence to the cold war in the Edo North APC.
However, as the plot to remove Tenebe gathered momentum, it seems he was not leaving anything to chance, going by the suspension of Estako East Ward 9 Chairman of the party, Adamu Ototobor, a loyalist to Tenebe’s antagonists.
The cold war among Edo APC bigwigs became evident when Tenebe, in a series of social media posts, alluded to the plot to replace him as Edo APC chairman by accusing Momoh of scheming to take control of the Edo APC by working with a ‘dangerous clique’.
Tenebe had said in one of his posts: “Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh, I have led the party to the best of my ability. I can as well leave the party to you and your dangerous clique; there is already a place in history for people like me.”
Momoh, in his reaction, said Tenebe should be allowed to exhaust himself, adding that he would not join issues with the Edo APC chairman.
In a statement by its President, Tosan Aiboni, the association described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of Usenbo’s exceptional leadership and professional excellence.
