The Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has been promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), in a move widely seen as a reward for his outstanding service and contributions to the image and modernisation of the police.
The promotion, approved by the Police Service Commission (PSC), was announced by the Nigeria Police Force on Saturday.
It marks a major career milestone for Adejobi, who has been praised for transforming police-public communication and championing transparency and professionalism in law enforcement.
Since his appointment as the image maker of the Force, Adejobi has led several strategic initiatives on both traditional and new media aimed at restoring public trust and reshaping the narrative around policing in Nigeria.
His efforts include modernising communication channels, engaging more openly with the media and citizens, and advocating for accountability in police operations.
Described by many within and outside the Force as a dynamic and disciplined officer, DCP Adejobi previously served as the Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos and Ogun States, where he gained public recognition for his hands-on communication style and proactive engagement with communities.
The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, congratulated Adejobi on his promotion, urging him to continue to serve as a role model for other officers and to uphold the core values of discipline, service, and integrity.
According to the IGP, the promotion is not just a recognition of Adejobi’s personal achievements, but also a reaffirmation of the Force’s commitment to encouraging merit, professionalism, and service excellence.
In a statement issued after the announcement, the Nigeria Police Force said the promotion exemplifies the ongoing reforms to reposition the institution for better service delivery.
“We remain committed to recognising outstanding officers and ensuring that hard work, dedication, and ethical conduct are always rewarded,” the statement added.
With decades of experience in law enforcement, police operations, and public affairs, DCP Adejobi is expected to continue playing a key role in shaping the national conversation around security, police reforms, and institutional accountability.
