The Nigeria Police Force has said it will investigate an allegation of a Police Inspector’s wife selling cannabis and other substances inside a station in Kogi State.
This was made known by Force spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
Adejobi said this while responding to a post by an X user who commented on a report by Sahara Reporters over the issue.
According to Sahara Reporters, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and officers of the Nigeria Police Force, engaged in a physical tussle over the arrest of a Police Inspector’s wife allegedly caught with a bag of Cannabis Sativa and other illicit drugs.
The media outfit reported that the incident happened around 11:00 am on Monday inside A Division police station in Lokoja, Kogi.
It explained that according to multiple sources, the wife of the Inspector was arrested while distributing the marijuana from her husband’s car, an ash Volkswagen parked inside the station.
However, when the NDLEA operatives moved to take her away with the vehicle, some policemen challenged them and it led to a fight.
Reacting to the incident, Adejobi confirmed it is being looked into.
“We are looking into it,” he wrote on his X handle. “This has been sent to kogi to investigate and revert.”
However, the Force spokesperson warned that there are media outfits whose publications need to be well verified before believing the stories they put out.
“There are some news platforms you need to verify their publications bef you believe hook, line, and sinker. So we will find out and take necessary action.”
