President Buhari has commiserated with the government and people of Lagos State over the death on Wednesday of former Minister of National Planning, Chief Rasheed Gbadamosi.

The president, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, yesterday, extended condolences to family members, friends and colleagues of the late economist, industrialist, playwright and promoter of arts and culture.

He urged them to be consoled by the fact that Gbadamosi’s contributions would be appreciated for a long time.

Other prominent Nigerians who expressed sadness at the death included former Ogun State governor, Gbenga Daniel, and Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola.

Senate President Bukola Saraki said Gbadamosi would be remembered for his immense contributions to the socio-political development of the country in public and private sectors.

He described the deceased as a man of immense capacity who showcased rich intellect through the many positions he occupied.

“His tour of duty included his appointment at barely 23 years of age as Commissioner for Economic Development in Lagos State in the 60s and chairman of several private companies and government agencies such as Ragolis Water Ltd., AIICO Pension Managers, Lucky Fibres Nig. Plc, Bank of Industry, and Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA),” said Saraki in a statement signed by his media aide, Yusuph Olaniyonu.
