Qatar launches business matchmaking initiative with Nigeria
Qatar has launched a business matchmaking initiative with Nigerian importers towards boosting bilateral trade opportunities.
The initiative was launched yesterday in Lagos, building on both countries’ socio-economic ties, which have witnessed growth in the last decade. It will bring together Qatari and Nigerian enterprises to explore avenues for mutual growth and partnership opportunities.
Present at the launch were Qatari manufacturers and services providers interested in meeting potential buyers, agents, and distributors seeking to establish export and import partners from various sectors such as building materials and construction, health and pharmaceutical products, oil and gas products, plastic and paper packaging, and technology services including Fintech and ICT solutions.
Ambassador of Qatar to Nigeria, Dr. Ali bin Ghanem Al-Hajri, said the initiative will deepen relationships and build the economic gap between the two countries.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Special Adviser on Economic Planning and Budget, Adebayo Sodade, said Nigeria moved from 146 to 131 on the list of business initiatives due to progress made in Lagos and Kano.
He noted: “Qatar is one of the richest countries in the world and it’s good to tap from their experience, to see how they have been able to get there. Though we are also an emerging economy like them, we will also see how we can collaborate with their companies.”
