Ramadan: Saudi Arabia confirms sighting of crescent, begins fasting Saturday

The Saudi Royal Court has declared Saturday March 1, 2025 as the first day of the month of Ramadan 1446H.
The announcement follows the successful sighting of the Ramadan crescent, signal the beginning of the Islamic fasting period.
Saudi Gazette reports that the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has urged residents to observe the sighting of moon on Friday the 29th of Sha’aban 1446H.
Meanwhile, the Chairman Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs in Nigeria and Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Mohammadu Sa’ad
Abubakar III, has also directed Nigerian Muslims to observe the sighting of the moon.
The Sultan is expected to address National Broadcast tonight on the update of the national committee of moon sighting in Nigeria.
