THE Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN), Myawegi Division, Abuja Diocese, has stated its support for the ongoing war against corruption by President Muhammadu Buhari, and the plan to establish the North East Commission.

This was disclosed by Dean Reverend, Zethan Gajere and Reverend Dr. James J. Reynolds of Theological College of Northern Nigeria (TCNN), Jos during the closing ceremony of 2016 yearly convention of LCCN in Bauchi yesterday.

Dr. Reynolds, who was speaking as a lead guest speaker and Reverend Gajere in his speech at the three-day programme, which ended yesterday said that the war must be sustained and should be all-inclusive.

Speaking on the theme, “Do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord,” taken from the book of Hebrews 12:5, Reynolds said there is need for discipline among authorities.

According to him, “even in the civic authority there is need for discipline, moral uprightness and upholding acceptable norms and values in order to overcome sinful nature.”

Speaking further on the North East Commission, he said; “I hope it will no be like the Niger Delta commission where the money ended up in the hands of the chiefs and some elites. If it is going to be like that, there is no need for the commission.”

He added that the North East needs a vibrant commission, which would work for the benefit of the masses and not enriching the elites.

Also, a religious group, Rasulul A’azam Foundation (RAAF) has urged Nigerians to support the Federal Government’s commitment to the crusade against graft.

A press release signed by the National Public Relations Officer of the foundation, Nasir Ja’afar, after its annual Maulud celebration says: “We sincerely appreciate and support the government of Kano State and the Federal Government of Nigeria in the current fight against corruption, with a view to sanitise the administrative system of governance and return our country to its glory.”
