Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, marked her 65th birthday on Sunday with widespread tributes from political leaders, public figures, and family members, reflecting her influence in national service, philanthropy, and grassroots empowerment.

Vice President Kashim Shettima joined millions of Nigerians in celebrating the milestone, describing her as “an inestimable mother of the nation whose impact has transcended her immediate family to touch millions across Nigeria through compassion, philanthropy, and quiet strength.”

In a goodwill message personally signed by him, he added, “Sixty-five might be a figure, but to us it is a reflection of countless years of brilliant motherhood, exemplary service to nationhood, and unwavering support to your husband and our entire nation.” He further highlighted her Renewed Hope Initiative, noting that it “has continued to uplift humanity by advancing women’s empowerment, youth development, education, and support for the needy across the country.”

APC chieftain and 2027 governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Akeem Agbaje, also extended felicitations, describing Senator Tinubu as “a patriot and a woman of deep substance whose contributions to nation-building have remained consistent and profound over the years.”

He praised her philanthropic interventions, including grants for 37,000 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and a ₦1 billion donation to the National Cancer Fund, saying, “The First Lady’s passion for uplifting the vulnerable and empowering the underserved is not only admirable but impactful. Through her Renewed Hope Initiative, she has brought meaningful interventions in health, education, and rural welfare.”

Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, described the First Lady as “a shining light in Nigeria’s crown,” acknowledging her dedication to family, nation, and humanitarian causes.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio also paid tribute, emphasizing her role as “a lifelong beacon of love, strength, and service to her husband, the underprivileged, and the nation.” He commended her quiet yet powerful support for President Bola Tinubu and her leadership of the Renewed Hope Initiative Empowerment Programme.

Family members also joined the tributes. Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, described her mother as “the mother of the nation” and praised her dedication to public service, grassroots empowerment, and advocacy for women and children.

“Mom, your unwavering dedication to public service and your passion for women empowerment and children support remain a source of pride and inspiration to me, and many others,” Tinubu-Ojo said.

Senator Solomon Adeola, APC representative for Ogun West, called her “a true mother of the Nigerian nation,” acknowledging her historic achievements as First Lady at both state and federal levels.

He praised her humanitarian contributions and the implementation of the Renewed Hope Initiative programmes, noting that her interventions in various sectors “have been a major contribution to national development.”

Born on September 21, 1960, Oluremi Tinubu is a seasoned lawmaker, ordained pastor, and philanthropist.

She represented Lagos Central in the Senate for three terms before assuming her current role as First Lady. Through the Renewed Hope Initiative, she has implemented programs supporting women, youth, and vulnerable groups nationwide, earning recognition as a leading advocate for social empowerment and nation-building.
