
A yet-to-be-identified man, said to be in his 20s has reportedly killed his father for failing to give him money to purchase hard drugs in Rumuagholu Community in Obio/Akpor Council of Rivers State.
It was gathered that in the early hours of Friday, there was an altercation between the suspect and the deceased who was a pastor, and moments when the argument heightened the suspect used a mortar pestle to hit his father leading to his death.
A neighbour, who explained the ugly incident said they heard the suspect and his father arguing but later discovered that the boy had used a mortar pestle to hit his father.
The source said the boy, having been apprehended claimed that his father refused to give him money to buy hard drugs, which led to an argument that made him angrily hit his father with the weapon.
However, the boy has been handed over to men of the Rumuokoro Divisional police station.
Confirming the incident, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko said the man killed the deceased with a pistol, adding that the man has been arrested and an investigation is ongoing.
