Representative of Imo West Senatorial District in the Senate, Rochas Okorocha, has also declared his interest to contest the presidency of the country.

The former Governor of Imo State disclosed his intention, yesterday, in a letter addressed to the President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, which he read on the floor of the Senate.

He also informed the legislators of a proposed World Press Conference he will host on Monday, January 31, 2022 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja by 11:00 a.m.

Okorocha, who had contested the presidency three times, led the Igbo through the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to join forces with President Muhammadu Buhari of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and Bola Tinubu of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) to form the APC.

MEANWHILE, National Secretary of PDP, Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, has urged Nigerians to give the opposition party the opportunity to rule the country in 2023, insisting that the party would address all the inadequacies currently being witnessed in the country.

Anyamwu, who gave the assurance in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Ikenna Onuoha, accused the APC of plunging the country into unnecessary challenges that would require extraordinary interventions to be addressed in 2023 and beyond.

He hinted that the PDP had articulated a competent team, which he described as “experienced and electable to rebuild the country, adding: “PDP is coming to re-write the wrongs of the APC government and by the time the party starts delivering dividends of democracy, Nigerians will see the difference.

“From May 2023, our government will work hard to provide security, good road networks, quality education, employment and empowerment of Nigerians.”

He assured that the downtrodden, less privileged, market women, Keke and taxi operators would have course to smile again under PDP’s purposeful leadership.
