Rotary, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation hold medical outreach

Nigerians from all over the country have been called upon to take advantage of the three-day yearly free test, screening and referral where applicable, organised by the Rotary Action Group for Family Health and AIDS Prevention, in collaboration with Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Federal Ministry of Health and others, under its programme tagged “Rotary Family Health Days” to know their health status.
The exercise, which started yesterday and to end tomorrow, February 15, 2025, targets 120,000 beneficiaries across Nigeria.National Programme Coordinator/Past District Governor, Rotary International, Bola Oyebade, who made the announcement during a media briefing, yesterday, said the exercise would take place in 120 locations throughout the country with 75 locations in Lagos and Ogun states.
“The programme that will gulp over $200,000 is focusing on polio immunisation, malaria screening and treatment, HIV testing and counselling, hypertension screening, deworming of children, cervical and breast cancer screening, among others.”
“Butter Fly, a new partner with their equipment, will be focusing on pregnant women in Enugu,” he said. The District Governor, Rotary International, District 9111, Dr Wole Kukoyi, who was at the event, advised Nigerians to take the issue of their health seriously.
He advised that daily hygiene involving taking care of hair, nose, mouth and every organ of the body should be undertaken every time. Also, the District Governor, District 9112, Femi Adenekan, urged Nigerians to be careful of what they eat.
