Rotary Canal Estate holds spelling bee competition, donates educational material to schools

In line with its Basic education and child literacy goal, Rotary Club of Canal estate in partnership with Rotaract Club of Platinum Minds, held the second edition of spelling bee competition among junior high school students in Lagos state at Apata Memorial High School, Isolo.

The clubs also distributed educational material to the students and teachers of various schools in the state sponsored by McMoren Logistics Company and African Cargo Express Ltd.

The Chief Operating Officers of African Cargo Express Ltd, Mr. Akinwale Akinwunmi, who graced the event as guest speaker, charged the students to always embrace every opportunity to learn and be better persons at their next stage of life.

He said the vital value of competition is to remind the students that failure is part life.

The initiator and President of Rotaract Club of Platinum Minds, Rtr. Victoria Omolara Adu, expressed her joy at witnessing the spelling bee competition and the winners.

Adu announced the winners of the 2023 competition after a thorough review by the panel.

Adu said Salaudeen Aliyah of Ajumoni Junior Grammar School emerged as the winner, while Abayomi Daniel of Ajumoni Junior Grammar School and Eze Jonadab Chibuike emerged first and second runners-up respectively.

The President of Rotary Club of Canal Estate, Rtn. Gbolahan Akerele, appreciated all beneficiaries and benefactors of the event and project.

He said members of the Rotary family are relentlessly deliberate on supporting governments to ensure every child has basic education and literacy across the globe.

Akerele further appealed for support in terms of membership, talent, and funds for Rotary to have a greater impact on society.
