Rotary Club Commissions N3m toilet project for Lagos School

The District Governor, Rotary International, District 9110, comprising Lagos and Ogun states, Omotunde Lawson, has commended Rotary Club of Isolo for initiating a ‘Global Grant Wash Project’ for Estate Nursery and Primary School, Ile-Iwe Metta Estate, Isolo, Lagos.

The District Governor, Rotary International, District 9110, comprising Lagos and Ogun states, Omotunde Lawson, has commended Rotary Club of Isolo for initiating a ‘Global Grant Wash Project’ for Estate Nursery and Primary School, Ile-Iwe Metta Estate, Isolo, Lagos.

The scheme aims at providing befitting modern toilets with requisite accessories for male and female pupils, as well as their teachers.
Lawson, recently, commissioned the project. Others who witnessed the event included the President-elect, Abimbola Oseni, who represented the Imaginative President, Rotary Club of Isolo, Dr. Atilade Femi Oshoniyi; Education Secretary, Isolo Local Council, Mayowa Alakija; Assistant Governor, District 9110, Olusola Benson; past presidents: Dave Emelike and Lookman Olajide, among others.

Lawson described the ‘partnership project’ executed in partnership with District 9110, 9150, 7680 and the Rotary Foundation, as a “big one.”
She said: “Rotary Club of Isolo is one of the 141 clubs in District 9110 and without showing its commitment of putting down some money, other partners would not have supported.

“Hygienic environment is crucial, especially to girls to avoid infection. They are now safe. I believe they have been trained to ensure proper maintenance of these facilities.”

In his speech read by Oseni, Atilade said the commissioning of the toilets was a manifestation of members’ dedication to serve their community and make positive impact in the lives of the people.

Project Chairman, Michael Esan revealed the project cost was not less than N3.5m. Alakija lauded the project and solicited more assistance for other schools.

The engineer who handled the project, Adetoye Ajulo said the work was delivered within the stipulated three-weeks completion time. Mrs. Ngozi Ordirionu appreciated the gesture and promised to ensure proper maintenance of the toilets and the accessories.
