Rotary moves to strengthen member clubs in Lagos

District 9111 Rotary Club of Zone 6, comprising seven clubs, namely: Greenfield, FESTAC Town, FESTAC Metropolitan, Okota Golden, Lagos West, Amuwo and FESTAC Cosmopolitan, has organised a seminar in Lagos. In attendance were all the seven club presidents of Zone 6 clubs, past district governors (PDG), and three past assistant governors, other Rotarians, and guests.
The guest speaker, PDG Patrick Ikheloa, commended the seven club presidents for organising the seminar on how to build strong clubs with strong membership growth, adding that nothing meaningful can be achieved without strong membership.
Ikheloa spoke on some of the areas of concentration for achieving strong and large membership by clubs. He harped on the strong impact of Rotary Clubs in their locations through the provision of meaningful projects such as supporting small businesses with loan facilities, partnering with clubs from across the world to secure grant grants for impactful community development that will make their presence felt in their domains through disease prevention, water sanitation and youths empowerment.
On his parting advice, lkheloa said: “Members should try to be involved and concerned in all the clubs’ activities and in doing so, we will enjoy our clubs.”
The first female PDG, Omotunde Lawson, drew the attention of the audience on clubs being mindful of its membership target as attracting wrong people will not grow the club.
She elaborated on three issues that are key to growing a club, among which is giving people new experiences and engaging the club guests among others.
