Sanwo-Olu tasks heads of agencies, parastatals on fostering investments, others
• Says they are pivotal to delivering dividends of democracy
• Lagos HoS laments inadequate utility vehicles, office space
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, yesterday, urged heads of parastatals and government-owned enterprises to explore new avenues and cutting-edge innovations to create an enabling environment that would foster investments and the state’s growth.
Sanwo-Olu said this during a one-day parley between him and heads of parastatals/government-owned companies across the state, which was organised by Parastatals Monitoring Office, Alausa, Lagos.
He said that heads of agencies play a pivotal role in providing the leadership that will facilitate the delivery of dividends of democracy to the people through efficient and effective implementation of government policies and programmes.
Earlier in his address, the state’s Head of Service (HoS), Olabode Agoro, urged the governor to look into some of the issues bothering agencies and parastatals.
He listed the issues to include overlapping mandates, need to update and review some laws, inadequate utility vehicles amolng others.
The guest lecturer, Prof. Lere Bale, in his lecture titled, “Transforming parastatals/agencies into agile organisations for greater efficiency,” urged the participants to embrace technology to reduce corruption, engage people and put in place processes for effective transformation.
