Sanwo-Olu to open specialist hospital, considers flyover for riverine communities
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has revealed that the 280-bed multi-specialist General Hospital in Ojo Local Council would be ready for operation by December.
Speaking during an inspection of the project, yesterday, the governor expressed confidence that the facility would be fully operational by the end of the year, significantly improving healthcare services in the region once it opens.
Sanwo-Olu said the massive infrastructure spans over six hectares of land, and includes a full range of outpatient services, medical diagnosis, accident and emergency care, and other specialist hospital amenities.
His words: “This project is an end-to-end healthcare facility, equipped with modern amenities, including a central laboratory and accommodation for medical personnel, among others.
“The facility will feature 280 beds across four verticals, with additional amenities such as a large restaurant and central laboratory. It also includes 64 flats for medical personnel, with both three-bedroom and one-bedroom units in four residential blocks.”
The governor noted that though the facility would be a general hospital, but will have the facilities of a multi-specialist hospital, which would be the largest in Lagos West Senatorial District.
MEANWHILE, Sanwo-Olu, who warned residents against dumping refuse on the four roads that were commissioned yesterday in Oriade Local Council Development Area of Amuwo Odofin Local Council, said the state government would resume constructing a flyover to link riverine communities in the LCDA to open up the area for better economic activities.
Thanking the contractors for executing quality projects, the governor commended the residents and their cooperation with the government.
The four roads reconstructed are Irede, Mumuni Adio, Navy Town and Old Ojo roads Phase 1.
Responding to the request of the council chairman, the governor promised him and residents that the second phase of the Old Ojo Road would start soon and get completed in time.
The Special Adviser, Office of Infrastructure, Olufemi Daramola, said the projects were critical to the development and prosperity of the council and the state.
