Shekarau lauds Fafunwa’s legacy, seeks vocational education for Nigerians
THE need for tertiary institutions in Nigeria to absorb vocational training in all areas of education has been emphasized as a way of ending unemployment among graduates.
Former governor of Kano State and erstwhile education minister, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, made this suggestion last Thursday while speaking at the 19th Fafunwa Educational Foundation Lecture, held at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Lagos.
Shekarau, while chairing the lecture titled: “The Dynamics of Higher Education and Graduate Employability in Nigeria”, said that the late Babatunde Fafunwa, who he called “the teachers’ teacher”, left a good education legacy by imparting knowledge and experience, which the younger generation will never forget.
The former education minister commended the Fafunwa Foundation for doing well in terms of sponsorship and award given to deserving students in various categories.
