SLIC by Sir Sho: Groundbreaking Lagos party features DJ Consequence, Monte, Outsydah

The maiden edition of SLIC (Sir Sho Live In Court) brought together Lagos State finest DJs, a charged basketball showdown, and an urban cultural crowd for one of the city’s most immersive youth-powered events.

The Ilupeju Industrial Avenue Basketball Court, the venue of the party was transformed into a vibrant convergence of sport, music, and youth culture on Sunday, April 20, 2025, as Lagos welcomed the debut edition of SLIC (Sir Sho Live In Court).

The event, curated and headlined by Sodipo Akintunde Ademide, professionally known as Sir Sho, introduced a new kind of live experience that fused basketball energy with festival-style DJ performances and community-driven creativity.

From the opening whistle of the basketball game to the final beat drop under the floodlights, SLIC delivered a spectacle that blurred the lines between street culture and elevated nightlife.

Branded jerseys, bold visuals, an excited and roaring crowd, and carefully curated sound turned the open court into an immersive playground for Lagos’ vibrant youth scene. Sir Sho, the visionary behind the concept, didn’t just host the night, he commanded it. His set was a masterclass in technical artistry, marked by sharp transitions, signature scratches, and an instinctive ability to read and move the crowd.

Blending Afrobeats,Fuji, Amapiano, hip hop, and R&B, he delivered a set that was both deeply local and globally fluent. Sharing the decks were a collection of Lagos most promising and respected DJs from the electrifying DJ Consequence to the hypnotic Afrohouse stylings of DJ Outsydah, the precision of DJ Monte, and the distinct flavors brought in by DJ Riley, DJ Kayowilz, AFDJ, DJ Folding, DJ Isco, and others, each blended in their own sonic signature, creating a dynamic rotation that kept the energy unpredictable and the audience on its feet.

It was a lineup that felt less like a playlist

and more like a movement orchestrated under Sir Sho’s unifying creative direction.

The night’s momentum was supercharged by an elite crew of hypemen IBOT, Jayk, Elijah, Manny, and Richie English whose presence on the mic brought rhythm, humor, and constant interaction to every transition. Their synergy with the DJs turned each set into a full-on performance, not just a playlist.

More than a party, SLIC was a bold declaration of what’s possible when passion meets purpose. From its concept to its execution, the event reflected a deep understanding of how to connect

with an audience and build a cultural experience from the ground up. It was raw yet refined, spontaneous yet intentional, a mirror of the very city that birthed it

What began years ago with a pair of headphones and a curious passion for music has grown into Sir Sho’s fully realized creative vision. His journey from curating school playlists to founding a brand like SLIC stands as a powerful reminder that Lagos’ next wave of culture isn’t coming, it’s already here.

Following its undeniable success, SLIC is already being touted as a touring format, with plans to take its unique blend of sound and sport to new audiences across Nigeria. Future editions are set to explore more cities, more collaborations, and more ways to push boundaries.

Speaking with journalists at the end of the party, Sir Sho said “This started with a wild idea and a love for music. Now it’s something bigger than me,” SLIC is about energy, culture, and showing that we can create world-class experiences with what we have, and this is just the beginning”.
